What to Do if You Think You Have Swine Flu
The swine flu is the latest buzz on
the streets. What began just a few short days ago in Mexico has now
spread to the United States, and probably to a town or city near
your home. Is it time to panic? Heavens no. Though the media may be
filling your head with constant worry and anxiety over this latest
outbreak, as long as you know the symptoms of the flu, make attempts
to avoid it, and also seek medical attention if you think you
have-you will be fine. Below we offer the best things to do if you
think you have it-for your own and others’ health.
Stay Home
First off, if you start experiencing
common flu symptoms, call in sick and stay home. Always err on the
side of caution when it comes to any flu. Why? Because you will be
making your symptoms worse by working through the disease, and
moreover, making everyone around you vulnerable to catching this
very contagious disease.

Call Your Doctor
Even if you are not sure if you have
the flu or have been in contact with the swine flu virus, it’s still
a good idea to call your doctor. Consider the alternative: you have
the swine flu and you not only suffer the uncomfortable symptoms
associated with the flu, but you also spread this disease
unknowingly to thousands of other people. A doctor, at least, can
take your blood and send a sample to the state health department.
From there, he/she may prescribe you a prescription to limit the
symptoms and contribute to your wellness.
Cover Your Mouth- Lastly, always
cover your mouth when sneezing or coughing. Use a Kleenex to catch
coughs and sneezes in order to minimize air borne virus spreading.
