Bird Flu Virus
Is the new bird flu virus better
because it kills less?
Just because the bird flu virus is
not as much of a killer this does not necessarily mean that you
should not worry about the bird flu virus. The bird flu virus is
actually much more dangerous when it is not killing people very
quickly because the longer it survives in living people the longer
it has to spread its bird flu virus self all over the world.
Any virus including the bird flu
virus needs to have a host in order to reproduce and once this host
dies it can no longer reproduce and spread from one person to
another person. SO in point of fact it can be much easier to contain
a bird flu virus that is killing the hosts quickly while a slower
acting bird flu virus is much harder to keep track of and contain.
And viruses are not contagious throughout their infection. They have
only a certain window in which they can be transferred form one
person to the next and a really deadly bird flu virus would not even
get to this stage where as the bird flu virus that we are looking at
can.
Danger concerning bird flu virus is
about much more than just its capacity to kill those who catch it,
the danger of a bird flu virus is its ability to spread and turn
into a pandemic. TO be a pandemic the bird flu virus needs to be
highly contagious and able to infect many, many people. More people
will die from a not so deadly strain of bird flu virus than from a
very deadly one. Why is this you ask? Simple because more people are
going to get it. The more people that get it the more people will
die. Period. You do not have to have a bird flu virus with a high
kill rate in order for it to kill millions of people, all you need
is for it to have a couple of percent kill rate but be spread to
millions upon millions of people.
The bird flu virus is one that is all
the talk these days but so many of the reports that you hear will
sound contradictory. Before you let yourself get swept up in the
panic you need to learn about the bird flu virus and how it can or
cannot affect you in your life and the lives of your family members.
